Hoover came through for me again! December 13, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As always, I expected quality and reliability from Hoover and I am pleased to report that I have not been disappointed in my recent purchase of the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Wide Bagged Upright Vacuum. For an amazingly low price, I received a vacuum that does a great job, has easy to use features, and even surpassed my expectations. I hope Hoover keeps up the good work for many years to come.
good value December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i hesitated in buying a cheaper vacuum b/c you tend to get what you pay for. but i trusted the other reviews...and it worked out. this is a good vacuum. it has great suction. in fact, be careful b/c it actually tore a hole in a blanket that i accidentally got too close to.
i gave it a 4 instead of a 5 b/c it is a bit bulky and the hoses/cords in back are bit awkward - but not a big deal. for the price, you can't beat this vacuum.
Love this vacuum December 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the Hoover Tempo and just love it. I have been using bagless vacs the past few years and finally got tired of the dusty dirty clean up after vacuuming. I mean why should I spend another half hour cleaning and washing my vacuum cleaner. I finally decided to try a bagged vac again after reading all the great reviews about the Tempo. Well let me tell you it's great! You can't get a better vacuum cleaner for the price. It doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, it just sucks like crazy and it's light. The biggest problem I use to have with bagged vacs was that they would stink after awhile. Well the bagless will do the same. The trick I have found is to change the bag after each use. Don't let it sit around in the vacuum cleaner. If you vacumm once a week like I do and you have pets you will probably fill the bag up. And a bag is a lot easier to clean up than dumping out a canister of loose hair, dust and dirt. Now I have clean air and a clean house for about $1 a week for the bags. Can't beat that. The filters are also washable. You don't have to spend twenty something dollars for a new Hepa filter in 6 months, which I think are highly oved rated anyway. I would recommend this vacuum to everyone. Give it a try, it won't break your bank account.
So far, an Excellent Vacuum! December 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As they say, you get what you pay for. But with this vacuum, so far, there are no sale gimmicks. You get every cents worth of your full ~$50!
On first use, I started pushing it around and noticed it wasn't picking up anything. As I recollect another reviewer here stating the same thing. Checked the bag & it was clean. Was there a blockage somewhere? No. The only thing malfunctioning was the fact I hate reading directions and just expect things to work. You need to hook-up attachment hose in order to provide vacuum to the bag & lower unit!
My last Hoover was an expensive (arm & leg) HEPA filter vacuum purchased 4-5 years ago. It was a piece of cr*p with nothing but problems. And, the so-called HEPA filter costed $50+ and required replacements after almost every vacuum of the house!
Well, I always try to give everybody a second chance and, after reading the reviews on Consumer Reports (etc), this was rated the best for the money. Plus, I didn't want to spend as much as the last vacuum.
I must say, after first use. I am so glad I bought this one. With this bag vacuum, I have all the suction I could ever want! I can also man-handle this puppy with ease. And, the bags only cost $2-3 each!
Warning for little kiddies, this is the *REAL* Jaws! It will devour anything using the attachment wand. Plastic bags, bathroom drop carpets and probably the kids too! Well, needless to say, let's hope nobody gets any crazy thoughts with the suction power of this vacuum. Because it won't be pretty in the ER. lol
I would buy several more of these if I had additional houses to maintain.
Shhh...nobody tell the Hoover company how good this vacuum is! December 10, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Well, with well over 1000 positive reviews, I took the plunge and bought this vacuum, hoping it wouldn't be a piece of junk. Though it's not the sturdiest machine, and though there is a certain "cheap plastic" feel to parts of it, I was absolutely amazed at how well it works! My carpets haven't looked this good since they were first installed. Seriously! What I don't understand is how come this machine sells so cheaply. Maybe nobody at the Hoover vacuum company has noticed what a deal folks are getting. Even if this vacuum only lasts a year or two I would go ahead and purchase another. It's that good! If you're on a budget, or if you simply can't see any reason to buy a $300 vacuum when a $58 vaccuum will do the job, then you'll be pleasantly surprised! I highly recommend this product.
