HOOVER VACUUMS ARE WORTHLESS JUNK!!! December 22, 2008 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Believe the old adage that states " YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"
Sure this has a lot of suction, but what good is it if the amount of suction is TOO much for this 'piece of junk' hose that actually collapses upon itself thereby preventing the dirt from being sucked up?!
The LENGTH of the hose is so short it's ridiculous..doesn't reach the ceiling, doesn't reach behind the couch or on top of anything! AND, the vacuum itself tips over whenever you hopelessly attempt to reach something.
If you plan on doing a comedy routine about house cleaning, this would be the perfect prop!! You wouldn't have to make any revisions AND you wouldn't have to do any acting!!!
Another Hoover vacuum I bought from Amazon was also defective..the belt broke every ten seconds..SO MUCH FOR TRUSTING RAVE REVIEWS!!!
Do yourself a favor and BAN Hoover products until they decide to once again build quality products..it's truly a DISGRACE..I wonder if they even bother to test the JUNK they're selling?? Guess they've never heard of QUALITY ASSURANCE because the stuff they sell is anything but quality!!
Very good vacuum for the price December 22, 2008 We usually spend between $100 and $200 for a vacuum cleaner. Unfortunately, we're pretty hard on them, and they rarely last longer than two years. We vacuum at least once a week and have carpet, rugs, and hardwood floors. Our last vacuum was a Bissell Velocity that finally gave out.
We decided to take a chance on a lower priced vacuum since we go through them so quickly. I'm pleased with the vacuum so far. It does a thorough job of cleaning the floors. It's also lightweight and much easier to maneuver than the Bissell.
The Bissell was bagless, and that often resulted in a huge mess when it came time to clean it out. In fact, I usually did it outside because so much dust was created. The new vacuum has a bag, and I was glad that I didn't have to do anything with the dust and debris after vacuuming.
The biggest disadvantage I can see is the cord length. We live in a ranch, and the Bissell forced us to replug only twice. This is not the case with new Hoover, and it is something I'm going to have to get used to.
Overall, however, I think it was a good purchase--and the price was exceptionally low.
Great for pet hair! December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I never thought I'd write a love letter to a vacuum, but this is it...I have two dogs and old, worn carpet. This vacuum picked up the dog hair and actually made my carpet look better. It's easy to assemble, easy to operate and light enough to do stairs. The only downsides are a too short cord (I fixed this by adding an extension cord) and a too short hose (I swapped it out with a longer hose from an old non-woking vacuum). I have had two of the Eureka vacs (the ones that were top rated by you-know-what consumer mag) and this vacuum beats em hands down---and at half the price!
Outstanding surprise December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was positively surprised over the quality of this item. One of the features I especially like is that it is self propelled. For the price, this is the best vacuum cleaner I have had in 38 years. I much prefer the "bagged" cleaners. I like that I do not have to touch the dirt.
Not all it's cracked up to be.... December 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this vacuum after reading reviews posted here. Most were positive (good buy for the $$). Two major flaws with this vacuum: 1) hose for attachments WAY too short. Can not vacuum more than 2 feet from vacuum without tipping it over. Very annoying. 2) the carpet height adjustment either does not work on my vacuum, or is of poor design. No real adjustment happening. I will give the vacuum kudos for having good suction...since that is what a vacuum should do - right?
