Maybe I just have clean water to begin with, but I sure couldn't taste the difference.

5 out of 5 stars best coffee maker needs these   January 27, 2003
Dont forget to replace your filter! The best coffee maker ever needs these to keep the coffee so yummy

3 out of 5 stars Model numbers that this applies to   October 27, 2002

As of 27 October 2002, this filter fits Braun Coffee makers models KF580, KF550, KF510, KF190, KF187, KF180, KF157, KF155, KF150, KF145, KF140, KF130.

If you go to the Braun Web site and want to search for your model coffee maker, be aware that Braun thinks these are two word model numbers. Their search engine wants you to enter KF + 157 for the KF157 model.

The filters work. We like them more for the hard water problem than the chlorine issue. The filter does both well. Just pricey.

5 out of 5 stars If you want a good cup of coffee...   October 6, 2002

a really good cup of coffee, then you might buy beans whole and grind your own...use a french press...and STILL taste the chlorine unless you use spring water or a filter system. If you spent the money for a Braun maker that uses this filter (brita), then you should use the filters if you buy gourmet whole beans...a small premium for a good cup of coffee (you already paid for premium beans and took the time to grind your own). You save with no french press to clean! Too much trouble, too expensive, and you don't taste the chlorine or minerals in your tap water? Then use tap water in the inexpensive maker of your choice! Caffeine is caffeine in the end!

5 out of 5 stars Necessary if you need them   June 25, 2002

As Yogi Berra would surely say, if you need it, than its a necessity. If your coffee maker uses these filters, than you need 'em. If it doesn't, than you don't. If you need 'em and you don't have 'em, then the coffee doesn't taste so good, unless your water is filtered outside of the coffee maker, in which case, you don't need 'em.

But, if you need 'em, than these are as good as any, and you ought to have 'em.
